In ancient Chinese folklore, the Money Frog was the wife of renowned man who attained the Elixir of Mortality from Hsi Wang Mu, the Goddess of the West. The frog, who at that time was still a maiden, was jealous and so stole the elixir from her husband. As retribution by the other gods, she was transformed into a three-legged frog and sentenced to reside on the moon. Because of this, the Money Frog is always seen sitting on a bed of treasure, carrying two strings of coins and biting one in the mouth – her natural greed requires that she always be surrounded by riches. This is why she is such a strong symbol of prosperity that is used extensively to attract wealth luck.
How to use Money Frog in Feng Shui:
1. Place this wonderful creature in the wealth sector (South-East) of the living room or office, to amplify luck and increase income.
2. Place two frogs: one facing outwards, symbolizing the bringing of money and increasing income, and the other facing outwards, symbolizing the collection of money and favorable chances.
3. For those who are involved in the workplace in earnings from commissions or adverse income, place a frog near your office or diagonally opposite the door at the entrance of the house.
4. The best number of three-legged frogs to have in your living room or garden is nine, as it represents bringing money from all directions of the Luo Pan compass.
